amazing book but horrible pen! I had to literally wash the pages off with the wand from the sink. The included pen just smears and smears! I followed the advice of other reviewers and bought crayola dry erase crayons and they work amazingly! Just throw away the pen and get those crayons and you'll have an awesome product!Product details

Wipe Clean Letters Simple First Activities Roger Priddy 9781843329565 Books Reviews
My child is obsessed with these type of books. The pages are made of good-quality card board and the marker erases easily. The pages can even be wiped with a baby wipe and still retain it’s shape and quality. Hours of fun for the child; some peace and quiet (for chores) for me!
This was an amazing book to find unexpectedly! My son is almost 2.5 and recently obsessed with the alphabet and tracing his letters in books, magnets and everywhere! He also loves books and coloring. So this looked like the perfect fit, and it IS! He loves it! I also tried off brand dry erase markers in other colors ( from my local big lots ) & those worked great, too! As for the reviews who said the marker doesn't come off.. must be leaving it in the book for more than a day. Don't let it dry that long! Use a baby wet wipe if needed and you should be fine. Amazing book! I will definitely buy another one soon (as future replacement or just to have a 2nd one to take everywhere)!
I’v’e been somewhat disappointed with this book. We have the numbers book and have not had any problems, but several of the pages of this book I have been unable to clean off all of the included dry erase marker. It appears there is a defect in the finish of the pages. We are still using it and i’ve switched to a wipe off crayon that doesn’t seem to have he same problems, but there are pages that my son repeatedly tells me to clean be cause there are marker marks I’m unable to remove.
Excellent book for a pre-school child. This is really helping my son (just turned 4) with pen control and learning to write his letters. I'm so glad I made the purchase. It's a little hard to keep him engaged for any length of time but if you get in 10-15 minutes a day, you will see good results!
After reading other reviews here’s my take. The pen provided is just fine, do not use the dry erase crayons on these unless you want to spend an hour rubbing them off versus a few minutes using a damp paper towel or wet wipe to wipe off the pen. I was an idiot and was like oh those dry erase crayons sound great! Wrong, I don’t know who uses them but you are a maniac! The book itself is cute and the kids love the mix of pictures and writing space.
I have several different Priddy dry erase books. I'm diligent about wiping them down quickly after my kids use them because I don't want the marker to set and stain. This book stained instantly. It arrived today. My daughter used the marker it came with. I tried to wipe it off MINUTES later and it's already stained. Ridiculous.
2017 Update Now, here's a book that has probably never seen a day resting on the shelf since I'd purchased it when our oldest grandson was 2 years old (now closing in on 9, with a couple of more grandsons and a granddaughter added in the interim!) This is an extremely durable book that's a terrific teaching tool in many ways. Obviously the book (recommended age of 3+) wasn't intended for a child that young (it includes a black dry erase marker in a nifty slot at the top of the book, held by a clip, that you wouldn't want in the hands of a 2 year old), but I hid the marker until he was ready, and this is just a terrific book for so many purposes... it shows the "normal" way of printing upper and lower case letters (sometimes I've found that these types of books don't display letters the way kids will learn to write in school, which annoys me because I think it just confuses them), with one page devoted to each letter, photos showing how the letters are used in words, along with some activities - great both for teaching letter and object recognition to younger kids, and perfect for learning to write letters as they get a bit older.
Let me give you an example of what's inside. The "B" page features both an upper and lower case "B" at the top of the page, around which are a small dot showing where to begin writing the letter and a perforated arrow showing the direction in which you draw the first line, a small "x" indicating where the next step begins and again the perforated arrow; then there are a couple of perforated upper case and lower case "B"s for your youngster to trace. The photos shown are a ball, brush, baby and bib, with the "b"s in each of them perforated for tracing. There's also a little area that says "Circle all of the 'b's.", showing three rows of letters as follows b d b, d p b, p d b --- it's usually a challenge for youngsters to remember on which side the lines go, and whether above or below, on these letters with circles. There are various types of other activities on other pages.
The fact that this is now in constant use with Grandson #3 tell you how SUPER durable this book is (9-7/8"W, 9-3/4"H, and a full 3/4" thick) with coated pages that allows for any soiling from occasionally sticky fingers to be easily wiped right off. This has definitely been one of THE most used items in our entire library of children's books! You definitely get your money's worth from the 2004 copyright date's imprinted US $8.95 price on the back cover!
